Motorcraft^® MERCON^® ULV is an ultra-low viscosity fluid manufactured with high-viscosity index, premium-quality, hydroprocessed base oils and specially designed performance additives. For transmissions designed for this fluid it provides improved fuel economy, excellent shifting characteristics at high and low ambient temperatures, and guards against transmission shudder. This fluid has excellent thermal and oxidation performance. It has improved shear stability, for less viscosity loss for the life of the fluid, and improved low temperature fluidity, providing proper transmission function at all temperatures. It provides wear protection and inhibits the formation of gum, sludge, lacquer and foam. It also prevents against rust and corrosion. It is dyed red for ease of leak detection
